The Topeka Town Council approved several park maintenance contracts and granted a rental-fee waiver for a community partnership during its April 27, 2026 park meeting.
The council voted to award an electrical contract for East Park to Weller Electric for $2,490.00. The motion to approve the Weller Electric quote was made by Council Member Steve Schrock and seconded by Marlynn Mast; the vote was recorded as all ayes.
Council also accepted a $1,968.80 quote for pond management at Jones Lake in West Park. That motion was made by Marlynn Mast and seconded by Ray Folk; council recorded all ayes on the vote.
Separately, the council considered a request from Topeka Together — presented on the agenda as a collaboration with LaGrange County Community Health — to waive the rental fee for a West Park event. Council Member Ray Folk moved to approve the waiver and Steve Schrock seconded. The motion passed with at least one abstention; the minutes record Marlynn Mast as abstaining.
Clerk-Treasurer Lea Parks reminded attendees that the May Park Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2026, following the regular council meeting. Council President Adam Lambright closed the meeting at 4:25 p.m. after a final motion to adjourn by Steve Schrock, seconded by Ray Folk, with all ayes recorded.
The actions taken at the April 27 meeting were routine contract approvals and a one-time fee waiver for a community health collaboration; no ordinances or long-term budget allocations were recorded in the minutes.
