The Select Board voted to approve Eversource’s request for a grant of location to install approximately 6 feet of underground conduit at Hillcrest/Bird Hill Avenue to provide underground service to a new home at 78 Bird Hill Avenue.
Joanne Callender with Eversource (speaker 14) explained that the customer filed the request in January but that processing was delayed by missing information and a paperwork glitch. "There was a significant delay on Eversource's part," Callender said, acknowledging the company's processing error and asking the board's understanding.
Rafael Lorero de Souza, representing the contractor, said Eversource had come on site and the work was done after design conversations. During public comment Sherry (speaker 11), who said she lives at 70 Bird Hill Avenue, asked whether the builder would address several dead trees visible near the property; Lorero said crews had inspected the trees and believed they were still alive. The chair asked Sherry to pursue the tree issue with the building department and the builder outside the hearing so the grant-of-location topic could remain focused.
After public comment a board member moved to approve the petition and the board carried the motion by roll-call vote. The chair thanked Eversource and the contractor for their participation.
Next steps: Work already completed on site will be reviewed by town staff as needed; the chair asked the parties to exchange contact information to resolve the tree concern and any outstanding permitting questions.
