Supervisors authorize solicitor to review zoning hearing board actions and press Bradford Run developer for compliance

The South Strabane Township Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to authorize the township solicitor to review actions taken by the zoning hearing board and, separately, to review the Bradford Run developer file and pursue appropriate legal action if necessary.

Township solicitor Mr. Wegel told the board he would review the record and would "not take any action unless it's warranted," but said an appeal to correct a procedural defect is an available remedy if the review finds errors. "We can take an appeal if there's something wrong," he said, describing the office's limited role but confirming the board's authority to request review.

Board members and public commenters described repeated attempts to reach the Bradford Run developer. Jim Kearns, speaking for residents, said certified mailings from the solicitor and engineer had not been acknowledged and urged decisive legal steps. "We have not heard anything from him," Kearns said, and recommended the township consider a municipal lien and other enforcement tools to protect residents and the township's interests.

Supervisors formally moved and seconded motions to add the solicitor review items to the agenda and then voted to authorize the solicitor to review the zoning hearing board actions and the Bradford Run matter; the motions passed by recorded voice vote as "I" and were recorded as carried 5-0. The solicitor will assemble the record, confirm whether any municipal planning code or procedural rules were breached, and advise the board on potential appeals or enforcement actions.
