Solano County honors Denise Kaufman after 28 years in health and social services

The Solano County Board of Supervisors on June 23 adopted a resolution honoring Denise Kaufman for more than 28 years of service in the county’s Health and Social Services Employment and Eligibility Division and presented her with a plaque.

The recognition, made during the board’s opening business, followed a motion and a unanimous vote. Deputy Director Alicia Jones, who introduced the resolution, said Kaufman ‘‘always went above and beyond’’ in helping families navigate benefits, welfare‑to‑work programs and eligibility services.

Jones described Kaufman’s decades of service and direct client work, telling the board Kaufman ‘‘brought significant tenacity, knowledge and history’’ to the department and frequently led trainings and staff education on benefits and program policies. The resolution text, read into the record, details Kaufman’s county start date (September 22, 1997), promotions and long service across multiple offices.

Kaufman, addressing the board, said retirement gives her an opportunity ‘‘to redefine myself’’ and that she will continue community work with the Red Cross while traveling and visiting family. ‘‘My time as a paid employee has ended. I’ve already started to work with Red Cross on Chadborne,’’ she told the supervisors.

The board gathered for photos and brief additional remarks from colleagues and county leaders following the resolution vote. No further action or required follow‑up was assigned by the board; the recognition was ceremonial.

The adoption and presentation were part of the board’s consent and ceremonial agenda and carried by unanimous vote.
