Resolution No. 2026-151 requests a ballot question that would ask voters whether the township should appropriate funds and incur an estimated $7,500,000 in debt service to preserve and renovate the Hofheimer House at 46 Mountain Boulevard for community meeting space. The concept plans and cost estimates were prepared by Clark Caton Hintz and are on file with the township clerk and on the township website.
The resolution’s interpretative statement says the estimated cost would increase the municipal portion of property taxes for the average residential household with an assessed valuation of $1,021,852 by $81 per year, assuming a 20‑year bond issue. The referendum is non‑binding; a majority YES vote would indicate voter support but would not obligate the committee to proceed.
The motion to place the referendum on the ballot passed by unanimous roll call.
