Putnam schools honor students, staff and first responders who saved a community member

The Putnam County School Board on June 23 recognized students, staff and local law-enforcement partners who performed CPR and used an AED to save Eddie Parcher during a cardiac emergency on April 22.
A presenter told the board that school staff and students responded immediately at dismissal and kept resuscitation efforts going for about 25 minutes, including chest compressions and AED use. The board announced certificates of appreciation to a list of students and staff, including Kaylee Alford (health-room assistant), Jonathan Goodwin, Captain Randy Hayes, and others who assisted that day.
Survivor Eddie Parcher addressed the board and thanked the school community and emergency responders. He said he was grateful for the outpouring of care and prayed to acknowledge those who supported him and his wife Kim during the recovery period. The presenter and several board members described the outcome as a “miracle” and thanked those involved.
The board also presented an outstanding school volunteer award (FDLE-related recognition) to Ashlyn Saville for long-term volunteer service at Middleton Burney.
What’s next: certificates will be distributed to recipients; the board took no formal policy action related to the incident but publicly thanked the individuals and partners involved.
