Yadkin County elections board finalizes March 3 primary results after unanimous vote

The Yadkin County Board of Elections accepted and finalized the results of the March 3, 2026 primary election following a presentation of final counts at its March 13 meeting.
Brenna Dickerson, the county’s elections director, told the board there were 7,211 total ballots cast in the primary: 4,280 election-day ballots, 2,867 early-voting ballots, 40 absentee ballots and 15 provisional ballots. Dickerson presented those totals during the canvass portion of the meeting.
Tony Poindexter, a board member, moved to accept all results and to finalize the election. The motion was approved unanimously by the five board members present: Gary Mastin (chair), Walter Shore (secretary), Jeff Smith (member), Brent Harris (member) and Tony Poindexter (member).
The board also reviewed its meeting schedule for the remainder of 2026; the transcript records discussion but no recorded vote or change to the schedule. Jeff Smith later made a motion to adjourn, and the meeting was recorded as adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
The meeting notice in the transcript lists the meeting as having met at 9:00 a.m.; the record indicates the meeting was called to order by Chair Gary Mastin at 11:00 a.m. Staff in attendance included Brooke Reece, assistant director, and Elections Director Brenna Dickerson.
