Town board approves 25 mph local law, bridge decking change order and multiple contracts

During the June 23 meeting the Town Board approved multiple administrative items and contract authorizations as listed on the consent agenda.
Local law: The board adopted a local law lowering the townwide speed limit to 25 mph.
Bridge decking: The board authorized contractor change order number one for the Route 120 pedestrian bridge to replace pressure-treated pine decking with a composite material at an additional cost of $65,348; engineer Jeff Gaspar said the pine would likely last no more than 10 years compared with longer durability for composite materials.
Project closeouts and bids: The board approved a change order of $3,703 for a topographic land survey (Tony Burgdorf Collins) needed to finalize as-built drawings for the Chat Pack parking/ walkway project. The board also awarded the Gedney Park 9/11 Memorial construction contract to low bidder Tony Casella for $96,520; $60,000 of that project cost will be covered by a grant from Senator Pete Harkham's office.
Grants and infrastructure: The board authorized submitting a WQIP grant application for Newstead Lane culvert repairs with an estimated total cost of $425,000 and a grant covering 75% of the cost, and approved piggybacking an Onondaga County cement pipe lining contract with Precision Trenchless for $230,000.
Insurance and workers' compensation: The board approved the annual service fee for Fallon & Sons (insurance broker) of $25,000 and authorized the Perma workers' compensation premium for year two of a three-year agreement at $311,244 (about $1,500 higher than last year).
Paving and traffic systems: The board approved road paving services to Montesano Brothers Inc. for $1,340,513 to repave 18 streets (about 5+ miles) and approved a three-year hourly maintenance arrangement for camera-based traffic detection at the Roaring Brook traffic light following a camera-installation change.
Consent agenda and personnel actions: The board moved and seconded the consent agenda (items 1–15), approved retroactive payments (including $517,735.22 and $361,906.19 checks listed on register), authorized hires (seasonal parks laborer Edwin Davila at $19/hour effective June 29) and accepted the resignation of part-time court attendant Scott W. Cronin, among other routine personnel and claims approvals. All consent items were approved by voice vote.
The board adjourned following the consent votes.
