Paynesville council certifies past-due utility and mowing bills to county auditor; approves firefighter relief benefit increase

Following a public hearing, the Paynesville City Council voted to certify delinquent accounts for garbage, water/sewer, mowing and snow removal to the county auditor for placement on real estate taxes. A representative from West Central Sanitation, Jeff Beram, spoke briefly to thank the city for the long partnership and noted the delinquent list is smaller than in prior years. Council then moved and approved certifying delinquent accounts by voice vote.
Council also reviewed an analysis of the Firefighters Relief Association account, which staff said was overfunded relative to actuarial targets. Brad presented account balances and the analysis; based on that review the council approved Resolution 24-9 to increase benefit levels for vested firefighters in the plan. The motion carried by voice vote; transcript does not record a roll-call tally.
