Kalona council approves 5th Street closure, accepts Valley Industrial Park dedication and acknowledges riverboat funds

The Kalona City Council on Oct. 7 unanimously approved a temporary street closure, accepted subdivision dedications and acknowledged a quarter'cent funding deposit from a riverboat fund.
Council passed Resolution No. 2024-BB, authorizing closure of 5th Street from B Avenue to C Avenue from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024. The motion was made by G Schmidt, seconded by Bender, and carried on a unanimous council vote.
The council also approved Resolution No. 2024-CC accepting dedication of Valley Industrial Park ' Parts 1 and 2 ' after city staff determined required public improvements were completed to engineering specifications. That motion was moved by Spitzer, seconded by J Schmidt and carried unanimously.
Council recognized receipt of $62,630.63 in Washington County Riverboat funds for the third quarter; the minutes state the funds will be used for council-approved budget projects and that staff should send an acknowledgment of continued county support.
