County supervisor urges attention to wind-energy ordinance; organizer praises Kalona bike race turnout

During public forum at the Aug. 5 Kalona City Council meeting, Bob Yoder of the Washington County Board of Supervisors told those present that the county supervisors will be discussing a wind energy ordinance and encouraged residents to speak with their state representative if the issue moves to the state level.
Caleb Wilson briefed the council on the first 100K Horseshoe Gravel Bike Race held in Kalona, saying the event drew a strong turnout of racers and families. Wilson thanked the council, city staff, Kalona Historical staff, Washington County Engineering and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for assistance and indicated he would like to organize the event again in the future.
