Executive Director Jason Benson and committee members used the June 24 meeting to recognize three departing finance‑committee members; the longest remarks were for Mayor Dardis, who is stepping down as finance‑committee chair.
Benson thanked Dardis for long service to the Diversion project dating back to the 2009 flood and noted Dardis's leadership role in securing legislative support in prior years. Mr. Benson said the committee and staff would present a gift and invited applause.
Mayor Dardis accepted the recognition and thanked committee members and staff. "I'd like to thank all the committee members. The manner which you've always conducted ourselves, even when we disagree on some of these things, has been absolutely professional. And I'm extremely proud of all of you and the small role that I've had in being on the finance committee," he said.
The committee adjourned following the remarks.
