Treynor board adopts policy exhibits in emergency reading and approves water‑tower easement for Verizon upgrades

The Treynor Community School District Board of Education voted March 10 to adopt modifications to Policy 605.3 (exhibits 605.3E1, 605.3E4, 605.3E5 and regulation 605.3R1) using the emergency policy adoption process, and separately approved a revised access easement related to the city water tower to accommodate Verizon equipment. Both motions passed 5-0.

Ms. Olson moved to approve the policy exhibits and related regulation using the emergency process, and Mr. Dreyer seconded. Board materials and discussion said the change removed students from the review committee to align with the Iowa Code and followed recommendations from the Iowa Association of School Boards. The board used the emergency adoption process because the prior language was non‑compliant and required timely correction.

Separately, the board approved a revised access easement involving the city, the Volkens, and the school district so Verizon could pursue equipment on the water tower. Attorneys for all parties reviewed the changes and concluded they did not alter the legal description or materially change rights and responsibilities, so a new public hearing was not required. Mr. Christensen moved approval of the revised easement, Mr. Dreyer seconded, and the motion carried 5-0.

Board members instructed staff to incorporate the policy changes as adopted and to finalize the easement documentation following attorney review.
