Public works staff presented finalized plans for the first phase of a trail extension to connect the Coronis recreational trail to the Glacial Lakes Trail (County Road 130 from Highway 55 to 185th). Plans were reviewed and approved by MnDOT and the council authorized staff to advertise the project for bids (advertise March 19; open bids mid-April).
Staff reported a railroad estimate of about $120,000 to extend the crossing to accommodate the off-road trail; the city will include that cost in the bid package and attempt to negotiate a reduced price with the railroad so it can be covered by the project grant.
The council voted to proceed with advertisement and bidding; staff will return with bid results for contractor selection and grant reconciliation.
