The Paynesville City Council voted to authorize Bolton & Mink to complete plans and specifications for a proposed fixed-base operator (FBO) hangar at the municipal airport.
Council member Neil Herberg said the project would be an insulated, heated structure roughly 80 by 80 feet with an estimated total cost near $1 million. Ron (department head/staff) told the council, “The money is in the airport funds,” and said the city’s approximately 22–25% local match would be taken from the airport CIP fund.
The council’s discussion noted the project would follow a standard airport project schedule: bids in the spring, grant awards from the FAA and state aeronautics agencies later in the year, and construction unlikely to begin before next fall with an anticipated completion in 2026. Council members asked that the city proceed with preparing bids and specifications so the project can be included in future grant rounds.
A motion to authorize Bolton & Mink to complete plans and specifications was made by Council member Neil Herberg and seconded by Council member Brick; the motion carried unanimously.
Next steps: staff will draft the plans and prepare for solicitation of bids; full grant award and construction timing depend on FAA/state grant approvals.
