South Redford board adopts revised policy manual, stresses civility and preserves extracurricular GPA language

The South Redford School District Board of Education adopted a revised board policy manual on June 22, 2026, after review by the board policy manual committee and submission of the recommended manual to board members.

Mrs. Flesher told the board she found a typo on page three that incorrectly states the timing of officer elections: "It says that our elections of officers are done at our organizational meeting in July and we do it in January," she said, and asked that the correction be made. During discussion board members emphasized the code-of-conduct provision encouraging civil discourse. Daniel Winston said, "I just want us to abide by it. I want us to abide by it." A board member later praised staff (naming Luan Jackson and Adam) for their work on preparing the revised manual.

A motion to adopt the recommended policy manual was moved by Mrs. Hicks and supported by Mrs. Flesher. Roll call named several members voting yes (Anthony Johnson, Laura Hicks, Amanda Flesher, Daniel Winston, Isaiah Early) and the board recorded seven yes, zero nays; the resolution was adopted.
