Key actions taken by the Simsbury Board of Selectmen on Feb. 9:
- Thrive Farm: Board retroactively approved the Thrive Farm 2026 Agricultural Enhancement Grant application to the Connecticut Department of Agriculture; motion passed unanimously. Town staff noted earlier variants of the application had listed the town as fiscal sponsor but the farm later changed the approach and no town fiscal sponsorship is required.
- Consent agenda and appointments: The Board approved a consent agenda containing multiple appointments (Aging & Disabilities Commission; Board of Assessment Appeals; Building Code Board of Appeals; Open Space Committee; Public Building Committee; DEI Council; acknowledgement of resignations; and authorizations like tax overpayment refunds). Additional appointment slates approved during the meeting included the Sustainability Committee (five appointments) and the Technology Task Force. Water Pollution Control Authority members were approved as presented.
- Mid-year transfers: Finance Director Amy Meriwether presented FY25/26 general fund mid-year transfer requests, including reallocation of contingency to cover negotiated contracts and transferring Latimer Lane project insurance back to the master policy. The Board approved transfers and recommended them to the Board of Finance.
- Lease item tabled: Authorization for the Town Manager to execute the Simsbury Farms Golf Course restaurant lease was tabled to a future meeting to allow staff to answer outstanding questions.
Votes were recorded in meeting minutes for each motion; most motions passed unanimously except where noted (Conservation Commission item tabled 4-2).
