Grundy Center OKs consent items, approves FY2025 Street Finance Report resolution; reads July financials

At its Aug. 18 meeting, the Grundy Center City Council approved multiple consent items and adopted a resolution to file the FY2025 Street Finance Report with the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Councilmember Lamp moved and Councilmember Smith seconded approval of the meeting agenda (amended), and later Councilmember Smith moved and Councilmember Mcdonald seconded approval of the minutes of the Aug. 4 regular session (amended to add visitor Erik Stensland), the July 2025 treasurer's report, an amended liquor license for Simply Iowa Candle Co., LLC to relocate from 711 G Avenue to 612 G Avenue, a street closure for Girls Night Out on Oct. 9, 2025 (7 a.m.–8 p.m.), a five-day liquor license for Top of Iowa Lucky Wife for Oct. 9, and YMCA use of Belpre Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 1–30, 2025, 5–7 p.m. All motions carried on recorded five–aye votes.
The council reviewed July 2025 expenditures by fund (listed in the minutes) totaling $495,606 and July 2025 revenues by fund totaling $249,147; line-item totals for General, Water, Sanitary Sewer, Ambulance and other funds were read into the record. Councilmember Mcdonald moved and Councilmember Smith seconded adoption of Resolution 2025-40, approving the FY2025 Street Finance Report and directing submission to the Iowa Department of Transportation by Dec. 1, 2025; the resolution passed on a 5–0 vote.
Mayor Paul Eberline opened the public forum during the meeting and recorded a comment from visitor Rich Ahlberg regarding junk vehicles; the forum closed before committee reports and adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
