The motion passed by unanimous roll call.
The commission also approved a $1,978 estimate from Merrillville Awning to replace a sun-faded and torn awning on the building’s exterior. Commissioners said the new awning will better match recent downtown improvements. Both items were approved as consent motions during the meeting.
Staff said these repairs are part of ongoing downtown rehabilitation and maintenance of commission-owned buildings; no additional funding sources or timelines were given at the meeting.
