The City of Laurel Budget and Finance Committee approved a $9,406 purchase requisition for three replacement computers and the labor to set them up at its June 9 meeting. Clerk/Treasurer Kelly Strecker presented the requisition from Systems Technology Consultants, saying the front-desk finance computer is about seven years old, one staff laptop is over five years old and the third machine is for the City Attorney; the vendor recommended updating computers every five years.
Committee member Jessica Banks moved to approve the purchase requisition; Casey Wheeler seconded. The motion carried by unanimous consent. The committee also approved claims entered through June 5, 2026; the payroll register for the pay period ending May 24, 2026, totaling $230,731.08; and the May 2026 utility-billing adjustments. Each of those motions was made and seconded and adopted by unanimous consent with no public comment.
Other business included a note that, under the new Schedule of Fees, punch cards for the container site can now be purchased at the water office. Clerk/Treasurer Kelly Strecker reported the May financial statement is balanced and said she will place that statement on the committee’s next agenda; she added that she will be working on the upcoming budget over the next several months in addition to daily duties.
The committee convened at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 5:44 p.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for June 23, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Jessica Banks is scheduled to review claims for that meeting.
