New Greenwich school building on track for Aug. 4 substantial completion; staff access targeted Aug. 21

Mr. Fischer, presenting an update on special projects, said the new school building is on schedule for substantial completion on Aug. 4 and that the town has approvals from the building department, fire marshal and the state for temporary systems needed to operate the facility.
"We are on target still for substantial completion of the new building August 4th," Fischer said, and described a temporary fire-pump system of two tanks, a pump and a generator that will be installed adjacent to where the sprinkler and water lines enter the building. He said the superintendent has been informed the town will target Aug. 21 to allow teachers and staff to access the building for preparatory work.
Fischer credited chief building officer John Valerie and fire marshal Mark Dawson for their efforts to accelerate signoffs. The board requested another update at the July BET meeting, and Fischer agreed to provide one.
