Laurel panel flags low pressure on Highway 10; booster station or looping eyed

The Laurel Public Works Committee reviewed an engineering-services item and directed staff to prioritize an assessment of low water pressure along Highway 10.
Matt Wheeler, Public Works Director, said the line is currently a dead-end and that resolving the low pressure will likely require either a booster station or a looped system to provide sufficient pressure for additional tie-ins. Wheeler said the engineering services item was scheduled on the City Council agenda for May 19; if council approves the contract, staff will work with the engineer to outline a scope of work focused on Highway 10 pressure, among other projects.
Committee members asked about the implications for planned development. Richard Herr asked whether water could be extended to the planned Love’s RV park; Wheeler said that extending service to that site would most likely require a booster station and that installation responsibility would fall to the developer (Love’s). The committee did not take formal action; Wheeler said he will pursue the assessment if the council action moves forward.
The committee also noted that water funds are being set aside for a tank project and that staff encountered some issues when turning water back on after winter, which the assessment should also address.
