The City of Laurel Budget and Finance Committee approved two equipment purchases and an added shipping charge during its May 26 meeting.
Committee member Tom Canape moved to approve adding $288.43 in shipping charges to a previously authorized digester gas compressor requisition; Jessica Banks seconded and the motion carried with no objection. Matt Wheeler said the original quote omitted shipping charges and the invoice now includes the $288.43 fee.
Staff also presented a requisition for a new 40-yard roll-off container with a screen lid for the container site at a cost of $17,895.00. "The cost of the new 40-yard roll-off container with lid and shipping charges is $17,895.00," Wheeler said. Canape moved to approve the purchase and Banks seconded; the committee approved it with no objection.
The committee approved replacing three variable frequency drives (VFDs) on the sewer plant blowers after staff maintenance review. "They are thirteen years old," Wheeler said of the VFDs, noting the units can fail suddenly with age. An Aerzen quote to replace the three VFDs totaled $53,501.98. Canape moved to approve the requisition; Banks seconded and the motion carried with no objection.
Each motion passed unanimously among the members present. The approvals were recorded as routine purchase requisition actions and will proceed to whatever procurement steps the city's processes require.
