Judge Diana Stevenson administered the oath of office as Gerhart repeated the pledge to uphold the U.S. and Ohio constitutions and the city charter. After taking the oath, Gerhart thanked family, friends and residents and asked colleagues to work with integrity and service. “I’m very honored by the trust my colleagues have placed in me and grateful for the support of my family, friends, and the residents of Baberton,” she said.
Pastor Joel Gregory of Grace Church led an invocation before the oath, praying for wisdom for the city’s leaders and for unity as the council takes up its work.
After the swearing-in, Gerhart offered brief remarks reflecting on the past months and the responsibilities of office. She singled out her son, Zeke, and said family has been central to her public service: “My greatest hope is that through all this you’ve seen that leadership isn't about titles or recognition. It's about showing up, doing what's right even when it's difficult, and serving others with integrity.”
The ceremonial portion concluded with photographs, and the council moved into scheduled committee meetings and the legislative agenda. The evening’s committees included City Properties, Parks and Recreation; Public Welfare, Safety and Public Relations; Rules, Marketing, Development and Information Technologies; City Utilities; and Finance and Personnel.
