Furnas County approves Verizon conditional-use permit for new cell tower

Chairman Mike Sexton opened a public hearing at 9:35 a.m.; Chris Monson of Tel Terra, LLC (cell tower site consultant) and Planning and Zoning members Roger Powell and RaNaye Dunlap answered questions. Planning and Zoning recommended approval and no members of the public attended the hearing. After the hearing was closed, the board approved Resolution 2026-6-23A on a motion by Commissioner Allan McCoy, seconded by Commissioner Dennis Tegtman, with a unanimous roll-call vote.
The conditional-use resolution permits Verizon to proceed with the tower proposal subject to conditions in the county's zoning and permitting process. County staff and Planning and Zoning members were present to respond to technical and procedural questions. No appeals or public objections were recorded at the meeting.
