Lenox council reappoints housing and golf board members, approves DOT detour agreement

The Lenox City Council on Feb. 9 approved routine agenda items, reappointed multiple board members and approved a resolution accepting a state Department of Transportation detour agreement linked to a planned Highway 148 construction project in 2029.
Council opened at 5:30 p.m. and, during a single consent block, approved the meeting agenda, the Jan. 26 regular meeting minutes, payment of bills dated Feb. 9 and the January Clerk Treasurer report. Those procedural motions were moved and seconded by council members Tull, Peterson, Hodges and Huffman and were recorded as carried with "all ayes."
On appointments, the council reappointed Paula Horton to the Low Rent Housing Board for a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 2027 (motion by Hodges; second by Huffman) and reappointed Jennie Tyler to the Low Rent Housing Board for a two-year term ending Feb. 2028 (motion by Tull; second by Hodges). The council also reappointed Taylor Maynes, Daniel Stewart and Ron Tvinnereim to the Golf Board for two-year terms ending Feb. 2028 (motion by Peterson; second by Huffman). Each appointment was approved unanimously as recorded in the minutes.
City Administrator Allison Kitzman told the council there have been no applicants to fill a current council vacancy; she said staff will republish the vacancy and accept applications through 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 19, 2026 for placement on the next council agenda. Kitzman warned that if no applicants come forward the city would need to hold a special election to fill the seat, which she said could be costly. The unexpired term ends Dec. 31, 2027.
The council approved Resolution 26-04, "Approving Agreement for DOT Initiated Detour of Primary Highways on Local Roads," by motion of Councilman Peterson and second by Councilman Hodges. The resolution authorizes an agreement tied to a planned construction project on Hwy 148 in 2029; the minutes note the motion carried with all ayes.
Deputy Peterson provided a brief law-enforcement summary for January listing tickets, warnings and accidents. When Councilman Peterson asked whether those figures were comparable to activity in Bedford, Deputy Peterson said he did not have that information.
Councilman Tull moved to adjourn and Councilman Hodges seconded; the meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m. The council will consider any applicants for the vacant seat at a future meeting after the Feb. 19 application deadline.
