Lenox council to add cemetery and house-mover chapters to city code, seeks quotes for library wall

The Lenox City Council on Dec. 8 agreed to add a cemetery chapter to the city code and to create a new house-movers chapter that includes a $50 permit application fee, City Administrator Allison Kitzman said.
Kitzman briefed the council on the ongoing codification project with Simmering Cory/Iowa Codification. The council directed staff to add a cemetery chapter to formalize current cemetery operations and to add a house-movers chapter with a $50 permit application fee for moving houses through the city.
Separately, council members discussed the back wall at the public library, where plaster has begun falling off. The council decided to advertise for quotes to remove all the plaster and clean up the area; after quotes are received the council will decide whether to leave the exposed brick/block or to frame up the wall. No construction contract was approved at the meeting.
At the start of the meeting the council also approved routine items: the agenda (motion by Peterson, second Hodges), the Nov. 24 meeting minutes (motion by Hodges, second Tull), payment of bills (motion by Tull, second Cruz), and the November Clerk Treasurer Report (motion by Tull, second Hodges); all carried on recorded 'all ayes.' The meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
