Lenox — The Lenox City Council met Jan. 26, 2026 at City Hall and unanimously approved a package of routine business, including adoption of Resolution 26-01 to update the IAMU Operator Qualifications Plan and several local contracts and licenses.
The council, convened by Mayor ProTem Tull, first took routine action to approve the meeting agenda, previous meeting minutes and payment of the Jan. 26 bills. Hodges moved to approve the agenda and the motion carried; subsequent motions to approve minutes and bills were recorded as carried by unanimous vote.
On policy, the council adopted Resolution 26-01, which implements Revision 1.1 of the IAMU Operator Qualifications Plan. The revision was described in the minutes as containing grammar edits and a clarification that specific operation-and-maintenance procedures will be reviewed before staff take written or oral exams. The resolution was moved by Hodges, seconded by Huffman, and approved by all members present.
In other business, the council approved two retail-alcohol actions for JP’s: approval of a Special Class C Retail Alcohol License renewal and approval of a Class C Retail Alcohol License. Both motions were passed on unanimous voice votes.
The council also approved a lease with Midwest Golf Carts for the 2026 season at a cost of $11,400. The motion to accept the lease was made by Peterson, seconded by Huffman and carried unanimously.
For library maintenance, City Administrator Allison Kitzman reported one bid for removal of an interior back wall. The council approved Lincoln’s Lawncare’s bid of $2,300 to remove the plaster wall and clean up; Kitzman said the work should begin immediately and is expected to take one day.
Gas Superintendent Blake Horton delivered a PowerPoint presentation on Natural Gas Public Awareness. The minutes note the presentation occurred but do not record specific slide content or statistics.
Deputy Erik Peterson introduced himself to the council and said he will attend one council meeting per month to provide enforcement statistics for Lenox, noting he would like to report the number of tickets and warnings issued. The council adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
