Ocean View council appoints John Blanchard to District 1 seat; names Eric Thornton to board of adjustments

I live at 12 Johnson's Glade Lane," and described his background as a resident, a retired law-enforcement captain with more than 30 years of service and an MBA. He said his motivation for serving was raising a 16-year-old son in town.
The council then considered an appointment to the board of adjustments. Council members described Eric Thornton as a District 1 resident with a professional background; a motion to appoint him to fill the term through May 2027 was seconded and approved, with the clerk recording the passage in the transcript.
Earlier in the meeting the council paid tribute to outgoing Councilman Steven Cobb for his service from 2022 to 2025 and presented formal recognition. The mayor and other members thanked him for his leadership and community service.
