Connersville reports high program turnout and full lifeguard staffing for 2026 pool season

CONNERSVILLE — At the March 30 meeting of the Connersville Parks and Recreation Board, Assistant Superintendent Kelly Moffett reported robust participation in adult and youth programs and that pool staffing for the 2026 season is complete.
Moffett said LWAW programs have been well attended, with about 20 participants in yoga classes and growing pickleball participation; Rec & Connect (ages 18 and up) open-gym nights drew about 28, 21 and 21 attendees at recent sessions. She said the department will keep activities for that age group running through the summer and invited suggestions from the public.
Moffett told the board that lifeguard and concessions positions for the 2026 pool were all filled and that a Whitewater Career class will start cabana training this week; the Pool Manager is finalizing details. The department also noted registration numbers for spring sports and several anniversary T-shirt sales and program promotions.
Marla Steele and board members discussed ideas to merge senior programming with Summer Discovery to promote intergenerational interaction; Steele said a prior attempt produced low turnout but the board agreed it remains worth exploring.
The Parks Office will be closed on Good Friday, April 3. The department said additional program and event updates will be provided as schedules are finalized.
