Longswamp supervisors approve $102,950.90 in disbursements, plan office roof bid

Don Hickman, chairman of the Longswamp Township Board of Supervisors, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 25, 2025. The board approved interim and current disbursements of $102,950.90 and fund transfers of $81,829.57 covering the period Nov. 12–25, 2025 after a motion from Supervisor Mike Sacks and a second from Vice Chairperson Mark Hilbert; a roll-call vote recorded Yes votes from Sacks, Hilbert and Hickman.
Candace Cameron, township secretary/treasurer, reported no new resident communication on lien clean-up but said one lien had been filed incorrectly and that Solicitor Beth Kohl will file a Lien Satisfaction to correct the record. Cameron also presented the Nov. 11, 2025 BOS business meeting minutes; Sacks moved to approve the minutes, Hilbert seconded and the board was unanimous in favor.
On capital projects, the board noted Pavilion 1 roof replacement is complete and directed engineer Jill Smith to prepare bidding documents for the township office roof with the intent to begin work in spring. Two planning items — an update on the Act 537 plan and on the township municipal maintenance building — were tabled for future meetings. The board also tabled a Berks County hold-harmless item and agreed to advertise an ordinance in December that would raise compensation for newly elected or re-elected supervisors; no ordinance action was taken at this meeting.
The sewage enforcement officer reported that Cycle 2 pumping is in effect, reminding residents that the compliance deadline is June 30, 2026. The board noted three vacancies on the Environmental Advisory Council and one vacancy on the Township Historical Commission and listed the next Park & Recreation meeting for Dec. 16, 2025, at 8:00 p.m.
A new-business agenda line to raise the pay rate for elected township auditors and authorize township action was introduced but no substantive discussion or formal action on that item is recorded in the minutes. Mike Sacks moved to adjourn at 7:12 p.m.; Mark Hilbert seconded and the meeting concluded.
