Norfolk Southern to supply design and install inlet box for N. Park Avenue storm-sewer work

Park Avenue railroad crossing; the township will install a connecting inlet outside the right-of-way and handle adjacent repaving.
Longswamp Township Engineer Jill Smith reported on a site meeting with Norfolk Southern concerning storm-sewer improvements near the N. Park Avenue railroad crossing.
Jill said Norfolk Southern agreed to have its contractor build a box to connect two steel pipes, add an inlet, extend a pipe with a headwall to tie into a concrete discharge, and handle the piping within its right-of-way. The township will install an inlet outside the railroad right-of-way to connect to Norfolk Southern's system, grade the area to proper elevation when paving is complete, and repave an adjacent area. Scott is assigned to oversee the riser installation and repaving work.
Smith said Norfolk Southern accepted responsibility for most of the work and that the project is expected to be completed before winter.
No formal board vote was required at the Oct. 14 meeting; the board acknowledged the agreement and directed staff to proceed with coordination and oversight.
