Faribault City Council voted Jan. 27 to approve a resolution supporting a cannabis microbusiness license application for Stoner's Choice to operate at 317 Central Avenue North.
City staff said the applicant has received a license number from the Office of Cannabis Management and that planning and zoning requirements within the city have been met; the applicant remains in the building-permit process and staff will forward final local approval to the state office once the city building department signs off.
"Everything has been approved other than the building," staff said, noting that once building officials approve the permit the city will send its approval to the Office of Cannabis Management. Council members welcomed another business in the downtown area and the motion passed after a move and second.
The resolution (2026-021) authorizes local approval pending building-permit clearance and conforms to Minnesota statutory licensing requirements cited by staff.
