The Mount Pleasant Community Development & Renewal Agency voted May 12 to approve a Heritage Area Grant application for a sidewalk program intended to improve safety near the city’s recently completed trail. Executive Director Monte Bona told the board the city has received funding from UDOT and Utah Outdoor Recreation and that the $10,000 Heritage Area grant would be used in coordination with Sunrise Engineering to address a safety concern along the trail.
The board approved the grant application by roll call with Board Members Lynn Beesley, Jakob Howcroft, Russell Keisel and Rondy Black voting yes; Board Member Cade Beck was absent. The minutes state the trail project itself is being wrapped up, with a final change order under processing after contractor Sunroc indicated that several remaining requested items would be too expensive given available funding.
Board members did not record further details in the minutes about the grant application process or contract terms; the record shows only that the application was approved and that related trail funding sources include UDOT and Utah Outdoor Recreation. The board also postponed action on the monthly claims register until June because an incorrect invoice register (March, not April) had been provided.
The agency’s next regular meeting is scheduled in June, when the board will consider the April and May invoice registers and any follow-up about sidewalk project scoping or grant implementation.
