Madelia council approves $606,242 pay request for Center Street, schedules cannabis hearing and hires four firefighters

Council approved Resolution 2025-14 permitting a bingo and raffle for Madelia Health’s gala on Sept. 27, 2025. The motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Mark Slater and passed 5–0.
The council voted to reassign the address for Luther Memorial Home, d/b/a Living Meadow’s, to 503 Benzel Avenue SW after a motion by Glen Christensen and seconded by Matt Gunderson; the motion passed unanimously.
The Stormwater Climate Resilience Plan — described in the minutes as completed with a county grant and framed as a City–County partnership to address flooding in the city's northwest corner — was approved on a motion by Andy Gappa, seconded by Glen Christensen; the vote was 5–0.
