Staff says senators moved Madelia wastewater request into larger federal funding pot; city will monitor

"We had sought funding for the federal levy for the wastewater station... we were going through Senator Kobashar and Senator Smith," Dave Schmid said. Schmid said the city learned on June 5 that the request was moved into a larger funding pot and that staff will watch for further information or requests for additional materials.
Schmid characterized the outcome as uncertain: the larger funding process means the city may need to provide additional information and it is not certain the project will receive an award. Staff will follow up if senators' offices request more documentation.
Next steps: staff will monitor the appropriations process and provide additional information to congressional offices if requested.
