Council approves final plat for Southside Fairway Estates, authorizes public bidding for infrastructure

Carrie Franklin, project manager for SE, told the Foley City Council on Feb. 10 that the Southside Fairway Estates phase‑one final plat includes 18 lots and that plans for sewer, water, storm systems and grading — including a pond on the north side of the site — are about 95% complete. Franklin said the project will require county entrance and utility permits for 55th Street and that planning commission reviewed the plat with no major concerns for phase one.
Council members asked about phase‑two connectivity and lot sizes; Franklin confirmed phase two was contemplated in the preliminary plat and could add roughly another 18 lots with additional grading considerations to be addressed later. After discussion, council moved to approve the final plat and then voted to authorize staff to advertise and solicit bids for the public infrastructure work, with contract award timing anticipated around March–April.
Next steps: staff will finalize plan/specs, publish bid notices, receive contractor bids and return to council for contract award and schedule coordination.
