The Fairmont Area School Board on May 12 approved a two-year contract with the district’s teachers that raises the salary schedule by 2.25% for both the current 2025–26 school year and 2026–27 and adds other compensation adjustments.
Under the agreement the district will add $300 to 403(b) contributions for each level in 2026–27 and establish a $2,500 annual stipend for teachers who hold a doctoral degree. The board voted to adopt the contract after board members thanked district negotiators for their work.
Board members noted the negotiations spanned multiple sessions beginning in the fall and described the agreement as a product of collaborative work between district staff and the teachers’ bargaining team. District finance staff Jessica provided spreadsheet support during negotiations, board members said.
The board recorded the motion to approve the contract and carried it by voice vote. The contract covers pay and benefit adjustments for the two specified school years; other language cleanups were also included in the appended agreement.
The board did not specify the exact implementation dates beyond noting increases apply to the two school years named and that some provisions (the 403(b) addition) take effect for the 2026–27 school year. The board said it expects routine payroll processing and any retroactivity to be handled according to the contract terms and district practice.
