Coventry Building Code Board of Appeals elects new chair, sets 2027 annual meeting

The Building Code Board of Appeals in Coventry, Conn., met Jan. 13, 2026, at Town Hall for its annual meeting. Chairman Brian Canny called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. and the roll call recorded five members present and Building Official Randy Heckman in attendance.
The board approved the minutes of Jan. 21, 2025, in a motion moved by Brian Canny and seconded by John Willnauer; Richard Mannarino and Tim Ackert abstained and the motion carried. Members then set the next annual meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2027, at 4:30 p.m.; that motion, moved by Canny and seconded by Ackert, was approved unanimously.
In officer elections, Canny moved to appoint Ben Funk as chair and Richard Mannarino as vice chair. Funk accepted the chair position and Mannarino accepted the vice chair position; Tim Ackert seconded the motion and both nominations were approved unanimously. The board welcomed Mannarino and Ackert as new members and provided all members with the Handbook for Elected and Appointed Officials and Volunteers along with an acknowledgement form confirming receipt.
Chairman Canny adjourned the meeting at 4:39 p.m.; the motion to adjourn was carried and seconded and approved unanimously. The minutes are noted as unofficial until approved at the board's next scheduled meeting.
