Residents raise parking enforcement concerns; Vincent Fire Company details EV firefighting gear

Residents used the public-comment period at the July 15 meeting to raise enforcement questions about commercial vehicles parked in residential areas and to hear an update from the Vincent Fire Company about new equipment for electric vehicle incidents.

Tom Haluszczak of 792 Westminster Drive North asked how Township Code Chapter 12-4.1.C — which prohibits parking commercial vehicles in residential districts — is being enforced, citing occurrences in Leisuretowne. Township Administrator Brandon Umba advised residents to report alleged violations to the non-emergent State Police line. Evie Doherty of 56 Stratford Road said such incidents should also be reported to the Leisuretowne association office.

Scott Mitchell, representing Vincent Fire Company, told the Committee the department has purchased a "turtle" for extinguishing electric vehicle fires and a "safety plug" that disables electric vehicles involved in accidents. He said the department bought battery-operated tools with grant money and has applied for a SAFER grant for personal protective equipment, recruitment and training. Mitchell also reported the department assisted with parking and road closures for the Township fireworks and summarized June call activity.

Committee members thanked volunteers and sponsors for the fireworks and noted community events and local school enrollment figures during committee reports. No formal enforcement action or policy change concerning commercial-vehicle parking was recorded at the meeting; the Administrator's guidance was the only enforcement path noted in the public record.

The public portion then closed and the meeting proceeded to committee reports and executive session.
