Waterloo board accepts election results, swears in three directors and elects Aster Williams president

The board took official notice of the Nov. 4 school election abstract, administered oaths to newly elected directors Aster Williams, Crystal Matlock and Janelle Euing, and elected Aster Williams board president and La. Schmidt vice president by unanimous roll calls.
The Waterloo Community School District board on Nov. 24 formally accepted the certified abstract of votes from the Nov. 4 election, administered oaths to the newly elected directors, and elected its president and vice president.
CFO JT Anderson read certified canvass totals reported by county officials: District 1 director — Aster Williams (1,816 votes); District 4 director — Crystal Matlock (2,311 votes); at-large director — Janelle Euing (9,563 votes). The board then administered the oath of office to Directors Euing, Williams and Matlock.
After installation, the board conducted its annual reorganization. Nominations for president and vice president proceeded orally. Director Aster Williams was nominated and elected president by a roll-call vote, and Director La. Schmidt was nominated and elected vice president; the roll calls were unanimous in favor. The board also authorized the president and vice president to sign warrants and contracts and reaffirmed official district depositories and deposit limits as required by state law.
The board will hold its next regular meeting at 5 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2025.
