Principals Brusky and Schultz recommended the board approve the employment of Jerry Brooks to return as a retired high-school math teacher for the 2026–27 year under the terms of a memorandum of understanding, and recommended hiring Brad Hogan as a high-school long-term substitute effective March 17–June 3, 2026. The board moved and approved both employment actions by voice vote.
Board members noted the retirement-hire renewal is required annually and said the memorandum’s terms mirror last year’s arrangement. The superintendent reported the applicant pool for open high-school positions has been limited this hiring season; at least one position has an offer pending and interviews are ongoing for another, with formal approvals expected at the April 14 board meeting.
Members encouraged continued outreach as area districts adjust budgets and staffing, which could affect applicant availability.
