The Fairmont Area School District board’s operations committee reported that the district is considering a new voter‑approved financing measure for facilities after a Nov. 25 referendum failed. Committee members, led in discussion by Andy, said ICS consultant Todd Wrap presented comparative data from other districts to inform strategy for reengaging the community. The committee also identified June 15, 2027, as the deadline for completing steps to place an operating‑referendum renewal that would extend the district’s operating referendum for another 10 years at the current amount.
In addition to referendum planning, the operations report covered related operational matters: draft parameters for distributing funds through the local Partners in Education program; investments made from the sale of the Hunt Farm; options for athletic training services; the potential relocation of the CER office given a pending building sale; and a review of custodial/maintenance software called Brightly, for which Tyler Garrison attended to describe the product’s monitoring and inventory features.
Board members said these topics will return for follow‑up, with the district targeting an early‑April calendar presentation for the 2026–27 year and further community engagement on facilities and potential financing. No formal board vote was taken on a referendum at the meeting; the discussion was presented as planning and analysis.
