Wallington engineer outlines paving, beacons and police building progress

At the May 7 Wallington council caucus, Borough Engineer Juzmeski provided a multi-topic project update covering pedestrian safety installations, road work, and the municipal police building.
Juzmeski said foundations will be installed for rapid flashing pedestrian beacons at the Main Avenue and Maple Avenue intersection, and that gaskets are being added to manhole covers at that location to reduce vehicle noise. He listed streets anticipated for spring and summer paving: Ross Road, Curie Avenue, Van Dyke Street, Wadsworth Street, King Street and Reservoir Avenue; he said required sewer repairs on Reservoir Avenue have been completed.
On the Police Department Building project, Juzmeski reported that the basement slab has been poured, framing has started, insulation installation is underway and asbestos remediation and removal in the garage area has been completed. He stated the project remains on schedule. He also said design work for the Union Boulevard water main and streetscape improvements is expected to be completed by the end of the month and that documentation has been submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for bank stabilization projects near Hathaway Street Park and Main Avenue.
The council did not vote on additional design or funding authorization during the caucus; Juzmeski’s remarks were presented as project-status updates and next steps for design and permitting.
