Council approves $15,000 reallocation for July 4 parade security

The Enumclaw City Council on June 22 approved Resolution No. 1881 authorizing an amendment to the city’s service agreement with the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce to fund security for the July 4 parade.
Parks Director Lina Hicks explained the resolution would allocate $15,000 already authorized by council: $8,500 for parade route barriers, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff, and $4,000 to the Chamber of Commerce for security and event staffing. "The funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break it up, of how we're going to spend it," Hicks said.
Council moved and seconded approval of the resolution; the motion passed with all in favor. The allocation follows committee review and is intended to improve parade safety and staffing for the holiday event.
The parade and commemorative events are scheduled for July 4, with a 9:30 a.m. flagpole dedication and noon parade on Cole Street; council also noted related community events and concerts scheduled through August.
