Parks and Recreation Director Alina Hibbs told council the department is proposing a two-day-a-week swim-team option to provide a more affordable program alternative. "Our 3 day a week program is $276 for 3 days a week. We're recommending a 2 day a week option," Hibbs said. Staff explained the reduced‑frequency participants would still attend the same number of swim meets, so the price is not a simple proportional reduction.
Hibbs and Parks staff also presented fee increases for cemetery lots and mausoleum alcove niches because many lot types are sold out and operating and maintenance costs have risen. Staff said the fee resolution lists struck-through, removed items that are sold out and shows updated pricing for available alcove niches. Council discussed that the cemetery board could not meet to review the proposal due to lack of quorum, so staff brought the resolution forward to avoid delaying Weeks Funeral Home, a partner affected by pricing changes.
City staff also reviewed an automatic April 1 inflationary adjustment to school impact fees (a 3.1% CPI-based increase for the Seattle–Tacoma–Bellevue area) and noted the city will review the school district's capital facilities plan once the district board acts.
After questions, council moved and approved Resolution 1879 by voice vote.
