Jaffrey honors retiring police chief; Lt. Chris LaBrecque sworn in as new chief

The board thanked Chief Muilenberg for eight years of service to the department — he began as a lieutenant in 2018 and assumed the duties of chief in 2020 — and recognized Lisa Muilenberg for her support. Town Clerk Rollins administered the oath to Lt. LaBrecque, and LaBrecque’s wife pinned his chief’s badge in a ceremonial gesture.
According to the meeting record, Muilenberg was commended for providing tactical guidance for large-scale town events and for leading the department through staffing shortages. The new chief, Chris LaBrecque, who has served with the Jaffrey Police Department since 2013, said he looks forward to a seamless transition and plans to address staffing shortages and officer retention as priorities for the department.
The ceremony was attended by members of the public, staff and neighboring law-enforcement representatives. No formal policy votes accompanied the change of command; the board’s record notes the recognition and the swearing-in as part of the meeting’s appointments section.
