The Rushford Village City Council voted Jan. 21 to increase the 'man and machine' per-hour charge from $100 to $175 and to approve a 2.5% cost-of-living raise for specified municipal employees effective Jan. 1, 2025.
Maintenance Supervisor Trenten Chiglo told the council equipment and wage costs drove the recommended increase and noted the village does not typically provide private grading or plowing services except in emergencies. The council discussed imposing escalating charges for habitual property mowing offenders and directed staff to consult the city attorney about changing the notification requirements in Ordinance #7 so the city can mow properties more efficiently; Mayor Dennis Overland said the village "does not want to get into the lawncare business."
The council approved the proposed increase to the man-and-machine rate and the 2.5% pay adjustment for named employees (motion by Hart; second by Link). Council members also approved adding health-insurance information for specified staff to personnel documents and setting a $100 minimum charge when a public hearing is canceled after notices have been sent.
