County Counselor Jim Emerson told the board that 11th Judicial District Court Administrator Mac Young and Chief Judge Loy requested the study and had obtained a firm quote of $38,250 to produce recommendations for both buildings. Emerson proposed using the ARPA interest account to cover the cost and said the account balance was $173,000.
On motion (26-279) by Commissioner Tom Moody, seconded by Commissioner Carl Wood, the board approved the payment. Commissioners Moody, Wood and Chairman Bruce Blair voted in favor; the motion prevailed.
The study is intended to identify needs and future recommendations for the Girard and Pittsburg court facilities; the board did not set a timeline for completion in the meeting record. The decision follows earlier tours and discussions with court administrators, according to Emerson.
