Flowood aldermen approve consent agendas: major purchases, contracts, insurance payments and police hires

Alderman Don Flynt moved to approve the consent agenda; Alderman Kathy Smith seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Also at the March 6 meeting, Public Works Director Garry Miller presented engineering recommendations and the board awarded Contract A (Northeast water distribution mains on MS 25) to Jay Bearden Construction Company and Contract D (Northeast tank & well preliminary site work and the Liberty Road well building) to Hemphill Construction Company. Both awards were approved by motion and unanimous vote.
Police hires approved across the two meetings included Marissa Shows (Dispatcher, Step 3), Heather Jeannette Winters (Patrol Division, Step 4), and Hunter Craft (Patrol Division, Step 5). Chief Richie McCluskey recommended the hires; each was approved by motion and unanimous vote.
At the March 20 meeting the board approved additional consent items including payment to Dale Partners for conference center design ($39,588.36), appointment of members to the Consolidated Review Committee for the Smart Code Growth District, and payment to Wellington Associates for a weather insurance policy for the Flowood Family Festival ($5,544.00). The board also approved an ordinance establishing fees for administrative services provided by the Flowood Police Department. Alderman Kathy Smith moved to approve the consent agenda; Alderman Deron Harmon seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
